Classes at Ambition Performing Arts begin the second week of August and run through to the end of June each year. This schedule gives students a consistent, structured learning experience while allowing families to enjoy a short summer break. Enrollment is open year-round, and new students may join when space allows. Whether your family is returning or joining us for the first time, our team is ready to welcome you into a safe and inspiring environment.

How often are classes held, and how long are they?

Most classes at APA meet once per week for 30, 45, or 60 minutes depending on the student’s age and experience. Competitive and advanced programs meet multiple times each week for deeper training, mentorship, and performance preparation. This balance gives students steady progress while keeping family routines consistent.

Why is my monthly tuition the same every month?

Tuition at Ambition Performing Arts is based on a 38-class season that includes planned breaks for holidays, long weekends, and studio events. The total tuition is divided into equal monthly payments, keeping costs simple and predictable for families throughout the year. What ages do you accept?

Ambition Performing Arts welcomes students from age 1 through 18 years. Our youngest artists begin in parented programs that introduce rhythm, movement, music, and storytelling in a fun and nurturing way. As students grow, they can explore structured classes in dance, music, and drama designed to meet their developmental stage and creative interests. Each program at APA builds confidence, coordination, and creativity, helping children and teens learn at a pace that fits their age and ability.

What experience or skill level is required?

None at all! Beginners are always welcome at Ambition Performing Arts. Our programs are thoughtfully designed to meet students where they are and guide them toward their personal best. From first-time dancers and musicians to students seeking advanced training and performance opportunities, APA provides a supportive, growth-focused environment for every level of experience.

Do classes have prerequisites?

Some programs at Ambition Performing Arts have age or skill-based prerequisites to ensure students are placed where they will thrive. Academy Dance Classes, Music Lessons, and Theatre Programs follow age guidelines with an October 31 cut-off date. Accelerated Classes require teacher placement based on demonstrated skill and readiness. Ambition Performing Arts offers a complete range of performing arts programs for children and youth in Airdrie. What is a Membership Fee?

The Annual Membership Fee at Ambition Performing Arts connects your family to the full APA experience. Membership provides access to weekly classes and exclusive benefits designed to enhance your child’s learning journey. Families can choose from three membership levels, each offering valuable perks such as a complimentary summer camp, early registration access, and discounts on special events and merchandise. At Ambition Performing Arts, transparency is part of our promise. All membership details and costs are communicated clearly from the moment you register so families always understand the value they are receiving

What other costs should I expect during the year?

Families can expect a few additional costs that support the full performing arts experience at Ambition Performing Arts. These include Dress Code attire (available in our in-house APA Boutique), recital costumes or performer packages, optional keepsake photos, recital tickets for Christmas and year-end shows, and optional enrichment programs for students who want extra performance opportunities. At Ambition Performing Arts, we believe transparency begins at registration. All costs are communicated clearly from the start, with no surprises along the way. Many organizations share additional fees later in the season, but we believe that families deserve clarity and trust from day one.

What is the Recital Costume Fee for?

The Recital Costume Fee covers the purchase of a recital-ready costume for dancers and theatre students. Each costume is made from high-quality fabrics designed to look beautiful under stage lighting and is delivered ready to wear, steamed, hung, and bagged for convenience.

Why do students need Dress Code attire, and where can I buy it?

Dress Code builds unity, focus, and professionalism while allowing teachers to ensure proper technique and safe movement. All required attire and footwear are available through the APA Boutique, and our team is happy to help with fittings or sizing.

What is included in my fees?

Tuition includes expert instruction, member benefits, and full access to studio communications and events throughout the season. Additional costs such as recital costumes, exam fees, and optional competition programs are billed separately with full transparency. We are proud of our open and honest approach to communication about fees. Can I add another class to my child’s schedule?

Absolutely. Families are welcome to add classes throughout the season as long as space is available and the student meets any age or level requirements. Taking multiple classes allows students to explore new styles and build well-rounded skills in the performing arts. Not sure if your child will love a class? We offer free trial opportunities so families can experience the class before enrolling.

What happens if my child is sick or misses a class?

All Ambition Performing Arts classes are available for live viewing through SpotTV, allowing families to watch from home when a student is unwell. This feature ensures that students can stay connected and engaged even when they cannot attend in person, and it eliminates the need for make-up classes. Families appreciate the consistency this system provides, and students enjoy being able to review their class to stay on track.

How is communication handled?

At Ambition Performing Arts, we believe great communication builds great relationships. Families receive timely updates through email, Facebook, Instagram, and our bi-weekly newsletter. These channels share important information about classes, closures, events, and student opportunities. Our team is always available to answer questions, and families can reach out by phone, email, or in person at the front desk for personal support.

Where can I find updates about events, closures, and recitals?

Studio news and event details are shared through email, social media, and our newsletter to ensure families never miss an update. Recital information is released during Parent Participation Week each January, including theme announcements and performance details. Current families are automatically re-enrolled for the next season in March, and public registration opens in April. This approach keeps communication simple and predictable for every family.

What if my child doesn’t like their class?

Our goal is for every student to find a class where they feel confident and inspired. If a class does not feel like the right fit, our team will work with you to find another option that better suits your child’s interests and goals. If withdrawal is necessary, we ask for 30 days written notice. Payments due during that period still apply. Please note that withdrawals are not accepted between March 1 and June 30, as this is recital preparation season, and costume fees become non-refundable after November 1.

What performances does APA hold each year?

Ambition Performing Arts produces more than 18 shows each season, giving every student the chance to shine. Highlights include our annual dance recital, a full-scale musical theatre production, and a variety of community events and showcases. While not every student participates in every production, there are many exciting opportunities throughout the year for dancers, musicians, and actors to perform and share their joy on stage.

A portion of every registration goes directly to the APA Scholarship Fund, which helps local youth access performing arts education. Who can join the Leaders in Training Program?
